AfriForum’s Upington branch donates food to soup kitchen

On 4 March AfriForum’s branch in Upington donated food to the soup kitchen in the Kalksloot residential area. This soup kitchen provides some 100 children with one meal per day.

The food products donated to this soup kitchen, includes maize meal, rice, cake flour, fresh bread and 10 kg chicken. The soup kitchen is almost 2 years old and according to Sandra Bosman, a volunteer, the soup kitchen, like many other in the community, receives no state aid and is thus dependent on donations.

“It is very important for us to feed our community and that is why AfriForum’s Upington branch become involved in this project,” says Werner Strauss, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Kalahari.

“This is one of our branch’s continuous projects and we want to call on the commuity and businesses in the community to open your hearts and to assist where you can in relieving the need,” says Erica Strauss, chairperson of the AfriForum branch in Upington.
