AfriForum’s Brits branch elects new management team

The AfriForum branch in Brits held an online meeting on 1 July during which a new branch management team was elected. Community members were given the opportunity to give their input and nominate members to represent the branch.

The following persons were elected as branch management: Werner Claassen (chairperson), Thinus Reynecke (vice-chairperson), Adel Breytenbach (secretary), Marius Kearns (treasurer), Willemien Barnard (local government affairs), Rudi Bosch (environmental affairs), Thys van Heerden (safety leader), Cobus Grobler (safety operations), Paul Grobler (safety support), Stephan Roos (safety information).

“I want to thank the previous branch management who almost doubled the number of members in Brits during the past 18 months, primarily by expanding and strengthening the safety structures. The foundation for other projects has been laid. Safety will always remain a priority in Brits and I look forward to see what successes the branch management will have. I am confident that the Brits community, under the new management team, will also be able to see more success where local government and environmental affairs are concerned. The new management plans on initiating sustainable self-help projects to improve the environment for everyone involved,” says Petrus Coetzee, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Marico.
