On 2 March 2021 AfriForum’s branch in Bethal cut the grass next to the N17 highway in Bethal.
Every year the branch undertakes this project as the N17 is the main entrance to Bethal. The grass is not cut by the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality at all and the long grass leads to an unsafe environment.
The long grass makes it easy for people to litter. Kaka-Lai’s services were employed to clean next to the road at the N17 Sasol. Subsequently the plan is to put out more refuse bins to address the problem of littering.
“We will continue to fight against the deterioration of this town and encourage people to become involved and help in the fight,” says Hennie Bekker, District Coordinator for AfriForum in the Lowveld.
