AfriForum called on President Cyril Ramaphosa today to immediately divulge the report of the findings of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) regarding the involvement of Minister Zweli Mkhize, Minister of Health, in the Digital Vibes corruption scandal. According to all indications the report was handed to Ramaphosa by the SIU yesterday in accordance with a deadline that was given to this unit.
According to Johan Kruger, Head of Community Development at AfriForum, Ramaphosa must take the public into his confidence and divulge the findings of the report immediately. “We urgently appeal to Ramaphosa to divulge the findings of the SIU report. The public is entitled to answers and we are on a knives-edge to find out the result and recommendations of the report,” says Kruger.
“Taxpayers and the public at large are bombarded with one corruption scandal after the other. Now is not the time to try and withhold or tone down the findings of the SIU. Transparent and brave action is needed from Ramaphosa to do the right thing.
“If Mkhize is implicated in the corrupt conduct of Digital Vibes he must be removed form his position immediately and criminally prosecuted. Taxpayers will not be happy with anything less,” Kruger concludes.
