Healthcare services – we want to hear your story.

Despite National Treasury’s grant of R717 billion for healthcare services for the 2019/2020 financial year, as well as generous grants in previous years, there are still people who are subject to poor medical care.

The citizenry can experience poor medical care in various ways, among other as a result of unfit or unwilling personnel, insufficient facilities, long queues, corruption, theft, medical negligence and a shortage of medicine and medical equipment.

AfriForum receives many complaints about hospitals and is therefore busy compiling a report on the state of hospitals and clinics to focus local and international attention on this matter.  The report will also be submitted to the Minister of Health to bring to his attention the suffering that some people are subject to when they need medical care.

AfriForum will also submit the report to the World Health Organization to inform the international community of the state of South African healthcare.

The organisation will in some cases also provide suggestions for improvement and hopes that the report will provide sufficient pressure to compel the Department to get its house in order.

We want to hear your story. If you or someone you know of has been the victim of the poor state of a hospital, please share it with us. If you are willing to provide your details to AfriForum, AfriForum will be able to include your story in the report.

Your story can help to shed light on the state of medical care in South Africa – and hopefully help it to have it improved.
