The AfriForum branch in Swartruggens on 27 July purchased an oxygen machine to assist the community considering the high number of COVID-19 cases in the area. The machine supplies 93% oxygen, has an adjustable flow rate to provide for the patient’s need, as well as a nebuliser function. The branch spent approximately R13 000 on it and is hopeful that it will help alleviate the need in the community.
“Community members from the Lindleyspoort-Swartruggens area contacted me and asked for help. Many people living there currently has COVID-19 and that is why the oxygen machine was essential to them. We therefore decided together with the branch to become involved and bring some relief in this emergency situation,” says Gerhard Faber, AfriForum’s Safety Coordinator for North West.
“A lot of people recently lost loved ones who died because of the pandemic, while many are also restless due to the riots that recently took place in the country. It is therefore of critical importance that AfriForum brings hope to communities and I am really glad that we were able to bring some relief in this challenging time by means of the AfriForum branch in Swartruggens,” says Petrus Coetzee, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Marico.
