On 22 May 2021 the AfriForum branch in Springs filled potholes in various streets in this town.
“Although potholes are a huge problem in this neighbourhood, the AfriForum branch in Springs decided to be less dependent on the government and rather become self-sufficient. Numerous people then helped to fill potholes,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand.
The branch filled potholes in the following streets:
- Kite Street in Daggafontein
- cnr Protea and Madeliefie Street in Edelweiss
- Anemoon Avenue in Edelweiss
- Van Graan Road in Casseldale
- Mentz Street in Casseldale
- 7th Avenue in Geduld
“It was hard work but AfriForum performs these kind of projects for the community. We do this because our town is deteriorating. AfriForum has stopped talking long ago and started doing,” says Cornel Swart, chairman of the AfriForum branch in Springs.
