AfriForum supplies hand sanitiser to police stations in Gauteng

AfriForum donated more than 5 000 bottles of hand sanitiser to police units in Gauteng on 1 April 2020 to reduce the risk of police officers contracting COVID-19 during the course of their duties.

AfriForum delivered hand sanitiser to police stations in the southern part of Gauteng, the West Rand, East Rand and Pretoria. Several police stations didn’t have sufficient supplies of hand sanitiser for members to use while fulfilling their duties.

“Police officers operate on the front lines during this pandemic and they should be able to execute their duties with the necessary protection against the virus. AfriForum’s safety structures are offering continuous practical assistance in the midst of this pandemic. With this initiative, we hope to assist the SAPS in protecting them from being infected with the virus while doing their duties,” says Ian Cameron, AfriForum’s Head of Community Safety.

The civil rights organisation also supplied their neighbourhood and farm watch members with the necessary equipment to protect them against the virus as much as possible.
