AfriForum directs urgent letter to Tshwane Metro regarding sewage

AfriForum on 5 August 2020 directed an urgent letter to the Tshwane Metro regarding raw sewage being dumped in various neighbourhoods in Pretoria. Residents and role-players in Waverley, the Moot, Môregloed, Villieria, Rietfontein, Valhalla and Mayville approached AfriForum about the sewage problems to place pressure on the Metro to ensure that the problem is solved urgently.

AfriForum is therefore making an urgent plea to the Metro to rectify the sewage problems, as well as to submit a plan regarding how this problem will in future be dealt with.

“It is shocking to see how this raw sewage is flowing into residential areas. We will continue placing pressure on the Metro to ensure that the problem is solved and that answers are supplied regarding this matter,” says Jp Nel, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Greater Pretoria.

“It is a big frustration for the community if they get no reaction when reporting problems. That is why it is important to join AfriForum’s structures so that we can solve these problems together,” says Sampie Steinberg, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Greater Pretoria.

AfriForum has granted the Metro one week to submit its action plan and the organisation will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that it receives the necessary attention.

AfriForum invites the community to become involved with the organisation’s future projects and campaigns. Join AfriForum and become part of the solution: SMS your name to 45341 (R1).
