AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch actively promoted good cooperation with the local SAPS and other security institutions.
The SAPS requests the Roodepoort neighbourhood watch weekly to participate in its operations. The neighbourhood watch has already participated in four such operations in February, among these raids focused on drugs, illegal mining, explosives and firearms. A large quantity of drugs was confiscated at schools.
Illegal immigrants and fugitives were also rounded up and arrested. These operations were executed under the direction of the SAPS, while the local CPF and other security firms also participated.
Two stolen vehicles and one kidnapped person were also found with the help of the CPF and other neighbourhood watches.
“It is the responsibility of every institution to establish good and positive cooperation agreements with other structures. We can proudly say that we monthly build on such agreements in Roodepoort,” says Fanie Naudé, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch.
The Roodepoort neighbourhood watch held its monthly visibility patrol on 22 February, in which 77 patrollers from various safety structures participated.
“AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch wants to thank everyone for their participation, as well as for their dedication in safeguarding the community,” says Carike van Loggerenberg, Project Coordinator for AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch.
