The AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Alberton on 20 April 2019 offered assistance to the community whilst heavy rain and hail poured down in the vicinity.
The neighbourhood watch helped community members, who feared that their roofs could possibly collapse on their houses due to the weight of the hail, to remove the hail and thereby avoid further damage.
“It is important that the community becomes involved and we would like to encourage them to join our local branch and neighbourhood watch. Our neighbourhood watch’s emergency number (066 048 2825) can be dialled in the case of an emergency,” says Louis van Aswegen, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Alberton neighbourhood watch.
“AfriForum is offering assistance to communities in a variety of manners. This success is simply another example of a community standing together to make a difference and prevent community members from suffering thousands of rands of damage,” concludes Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s Head of Community Safety for the northern region.
