Members of the AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Tzaneen only just completed the first phase of their formal training. This training entails the organisation and execution of efficient patrols, site handling, incident control, as well as an exposition of the legal aspects with which neighbourhood watch members are frequently confronted.

“It is not only neighbourhood watch members who are benefitting from this training, but also the wider community. Neighbourhood watches are there to help to protect and safeguard the community in cooperation with the local police, and to be able to do this each member must possess the necessary knowledge,” says Louis Naude, Chairperson of the Safety Portfolio of AfriForum’s Tzaneen branch.
