AfriForum’s branch in Standerton launched their pothole project on 3 March and has already used one ton of tar to repair potholes in Standerton. This project is performed in cooperation with Lekwa Clean Up, Ons Radio, Beeswinkel, Jeria Emergency Medical Services, Pro-rub and many volunteers in Standerton.
“The repair of potholes in particular is a priority for us considering the municipality’s failure to perform basic repair work. The roads are very unsafe and we want to encourage the community to not only inform us where repair work has to be done, but also to help us and to become part of this project. Together we can make a difference in our town,” says Bronwen Pretorius, AfriForum’s Safety Coordinator for Mpumalanga.
“This is one of the continuous projects of our branch and we will undertake similar, sustainable projects throughout the year,” says Pieter Botha, chairperson of AfriForum’s Standerton branch. If we as a community stand and work together to solve our problems, we will succeed.
