AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch received training in emergency bleeding control and scene control on 8 and 9 March 2019, which was presented respectively by Stop the Bleed organisation and the SAPS.
Fanie Naude, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch, says that the branch welcomed the training opportunity with open arms. According to Naude, the past few weeks have seen an increase in serious accidents in the area. After the training, the neighbourhood watch members have sufficient knowledge to secure scenes and stabilise victims until emergency services arrive.
“As an organisation, we are privileged to have attended the training. It is encouraging to see how a community can take hands and strife towards a better tomorrow,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s Assistant Coordinator for the West Rand.
