The AfriForum branch in Overstrand planted ten trees as part of the Pebbles Project in the Hemel en Aarde Valley on 12 October 2017.

According to Deon de Jager, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Southern Cape, this action is part and parcel of the organisation’s ideal to ensure a sustainable future for the next generations.

The branch decided to plant Assegai trees as these grow very fast and are ideal for a school environment as it creates deep shade. The tree is indigenous, needs little water and grows very well in the Western Cape. Elmarie van Dalen, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Overstrand branch, informed the learners of the importance of trees and nature preservation.
