The AfriForum neighbourhood watch supported Albert de Waal and his family after their house and all their possessions at 9 Galloway Street had burnt down.

After a private security firm had called in emergency services, the neighbourhood watch members arranged among other accommodation for the family and collected necessities such as food, clothing and toiletries. Within a few hours, the neighbourhood watch was able to provide two bakkie loads of donations from the community to the family.

“When communities stand together, they can make a real difference; this event is proof of this. We are thankful for every donation and residents’ caring hearts,” says Tommy van Zyl, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Cape Town North branch.

“The Kraaifontein community is one to be proud of,” says André Theron, Chairperson of the Kraaifontein neighbourhood watch.
