AfriForum’s Kathu branch sent a letter to the Municipal Manager of the Gamagara Local Municipality in which the branch demands immediate answers on water supply in Kathu. Sedibeng Water is limiting water supply because the Municipality owes it a significant amount of money.
“We feel that it is unfair to punish tax-paying citizens because the Municipality fails to pay its accounts,” says Gonda Louw, District Coordinator for the Kalahari. “We are worried about the Municipality’s poor financial management, and we want to know what happens to the money.”
She also says that AfriForum’s Kathu branch contacted the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs to intervene in the matter.
