AfriForum’s Greater Pretoria branches have submitted written commentary for the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) the past month, as part of AfriForum’s national IDP project.
Written commentary in the IDP process is of utmost importance, as it entails the public’s participation in the budget process up to and including 2022. The branches each compiled refined input about problems in the various areas needing urgent attention. A specialist was also appointed to focus on municipal expenses, the municipalities’ Spatial Development Plan (SDP) and the zoning of various open areas.
The closing date for comments was 26 April 2019.
“It is important that community members submit written commentary, so they can have a say in how and where their tax money is spent and on the planning and development of areas and land in their immediate environment,” says Lambert de Klerk, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Greater Pretoria.
