The civil rights organisation AfriForum’s Edenvale branch held its annual general meeting on Thursday 23 May 2019 and elected a new branch management. The purpose of the meeting was also to provide feedback to the community on the branch’s 2018 successes and projects. The branch’s official first year of existence was also celebrated.
Various street painting and clean-up actions were launched and successfully executed in 2018. The neighbourhood watch also showed great potential with the more than 120 incidents on which they reacted or during which they offered support. The branch also maintains sound relations with various organisations and safety structures in Edenvale.
The new branch management comprises Peter Kingsley (Chairperson), Linda McKenzie (Vice-chairperson and Neighbourhood Watch chairperson), Lesley Thomas (Treasurer), Alice Kaminski (Secretary) and Gary Thomas (Environmental Affairs).
“As management, we are ready for the second year and taking the branch forward. We will also focus on the expansion and strengthening of existing relations with institutions, as well as maintenance actions in and around the town,” Kingsley says.
