AfriForum’s Centurion branch recently installed two cameras in strategic locations in the Valhalla area to assist in the fight against crime.
The branch received several complaints about crime in the area and has already removed vegetation and cleaned the channel in Valhalla. Criminals often made use of the channel as an escape route. The one camera was erected at the channel to monitor movement around the channel while simultaneously monitoring illegal dumping. The second camera is a bush camera that was erected in a crime ridden area and will assist in monitoring criminals who make use of this route.
“It is important for the community to work with role players to fight crime successfully. We can achieve so much more if we work together. AfriForum’s Centurion branch is planning several other projects in the future to further contribute to the safety of the community,” says Jp Nel, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Greater Pretoria South area.
“We want to encourage the community to become more involved with the branch and neighbourhood watch so we can make a difference in the community together,” says Nel.
AfriForum encourages the community to keep an eye on its Centurion branch’s Facebook page and to join the groups on the Telegram app.
