AfriForum’s Bellville neighbourhood watch held a joint safety patrol with Oakdale Watch on 8 September to increase visibility and involve more community members who can actively participate in the neighbourhood watch’s actions. The evening saw no incidents.
“The maintenance of visibility scares away potential criminals and is therefore a proactive way to combat crime. The community has a role to play in assisting the SAPS to curb crime,” says Tommy van Zyl, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Bellville neighbourhood watch.
