The AfriForum neighbourhood watches situated in the Apies River valley this past weekend participated in a mass patrol. Approximately 118 neighbourhood watch members covered nearly 2 640 km during the patrol.
“The patrollers patrolled the area surrounding the Apies River valley in shifts between Friday evening 19:00 and Saturday morning 02:00. No serious crime incidents were reported,” says Lambert de Klerk, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Greater Pretoria.
De Klerk adds that these patrols were directed towards crime prevention and the visibility of safety structures.
“We will continuously tackle new projects in cooperation with the police to combat crime in our towns.”
AfriForum is making a plea to communities in the Tshwane metro to become involved with the organisation’s local branches and actively participate in the actions of the neighbourhood watches. For more information, send an email to lambert.deklerk@antiek.afriforum.co.za.
