The civil rights watchdog AfriForum on 14 May 2018 paid a visit to La Montagne Primary School in Pretoria as part of this organisation’s anti-bullying campaign. This campaign serves as awareness of bullying in schools and includes information sessions with learners, teachers and parents.

“It is important for AfriForum to work with learners, teachers and parents to make a difference and crack down on bullying in schools. Each learner attending the anti-bullying speech becomes an ambassador for their school to particularly act as a leader in a situation where bullying takes place,” says Leandie Bräsler, AfriForum’s Coordinator for Leadership Development.

“The fact that the learners could learn more about the armour that they must get dressed in each day definitely made a valuable and sustainable impact. If they were to get dressed in their armour each day before school, they will constantly be reminded not to act as bullies. It will motivate learners daily to treat other people with respect – at the school, at home and also in the wider society,” explains Anita Pillay, Headmaster of La Montagne Primary School.

Send an email to boelie@antiek.afriforum.co.za if your child’s school would like to become involved in this campaign and leadership development.
