The civil rights organisation AfriForum established a new neighbourhood watch in Bankhara Budolong outside Kuruman on 23 October 2019. This neighbourhood watch forms part of AfriForum’s Kuruman branch.
According to Johandré van Zyl, AfriForum’s Head of Safety for the southern region, the Bankhara Budolong community is victim to various crimes like theft and robbery. The new neighbourhood watch wants to end these crimes in cooperation with the SAPS and other safety institutions. Other AfriForum neighbourhood watches in the vicinity include the Kuruman neighbourhood watch, who has already achieved numerous successes.
The neighbourhood watch management comprises of Jannie Sehlangu (Chairperson), John Chabanku, Patrick Baatlhodi, Annah Selonjane and Nomsa Sibande.
