The civil rights organisation AfriForum established a new branch in De Doorns on 27 January 2021 after various requests from the community. Dr. Eugene Brink, Strategic Advisor for Community Affairs at AfriForum, gave a talk, as guest speaker, titled “Situasie-ontleding 2021” via Zoom.
The newly elected branch management consists of Malan Jordaan (chairperson), Deon Jonker (vice-chairperson), Inge Victor (treasurer), JP Victor (secretary), Ansie Rossouw (youth), Graham Abrahams (environmental affairs) and Charl De Goede (safety and local government).
During the founding meeting Johardt van Heerden, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Boland region presented the organisation’s model and recent successes. Mark Kuys, AfriForum’s Head of Safety for the South region, elaborated on AfriForum’s safety plans and structures, as well as the benefits associated therewith. It includes accredited training, equipment, a national network and valuable experience.
“The newly elected management is enthusiastic about solving the problems residents are experiencing. The branch management would like to work with the community to launch sustainable projects they can do themselves and to protect their community. AfriForum is looking forward to working with the branch in the future and exercising leadership in an effort to make the community more prepared” says Van Heerden, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Boland.
We encourage the community to become involved with this AfriForum branch to make a real difference: SMS “De Doorns” to 45265 (R1).
