The civil rights organisation AfriForum today donated 42 tonnes of fodder to farmers in the drought-stricken Williston district.
According to AfriForum’s Williston branch it is currently so dry in this area that farmers are compelled to feed their sheep eucalyptus leaves. AfriForum therefore launched a project to aid these farmers.
“We raised the necessary funds to buy the fodder to donate to farmers in need,” says Deon de Jager, Project Manager of the Williston drought aid project.
The fodder, purchased from Weideman Voere in Jacobsdal, will be handed out from 12:00 at the Williston showgrounds. “We are grateful for all the donations from members of the public that enabled us to help these farmers. I also want to thank Carel Joubert in particular for his massive contribution to the project,” concludes De Jager.
