The AfriForum branch in Newcastle recently replaced various stop signs in Ngagane, one of the neighbourhoods in this town.
This follows after the community enquired with the Newcastle Municipality various times about the matter. AfriForum also submitted a request in this regard with the Municipality, but no aid was received from this quarter.
“We were very concerned over road safety in the neighbourhood and is relieved that the stop signs are now replaced. We want to thank AfriForum, who solved this problem,” says Pikkie Muller, a resident of Ngagane.
“It is concerning that municipalities cannot even fulfil this small obligation,” says Eugene van Aswegen, AfriForum’s Provincial Coordinator for KwaZulu-Natal.
