AfriForum’s Vanderbijlpark branch on 25 April 2019 delivered a letter to the Emfuleni Local Municipality and placed them on terms regarding the poor waste removal in the Emfuleni area.

This follows after little to no waste removal has taken place in the last couple of months.

“This presents a big health risk when these basic services which taxpayers pay for aren’t delivered. Black bags are piling up on pavements everywhere,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s Assistant Coordinator for the West Rand.

If the Municipality doesn’t adhere to the conditions specified in the letter, the local branch will arrange a waste delivery action at the municipal offices to subsequently force the Municipality to perform their duties.

According to Ungerer, AfriForum would like to invite community members to participate in this action to ensure that the voice of the community is heard. He adds that the final arrangements for the action will be communicated on the Facebook page of AfriForum’s Vanderbijlpark branch.

People interested in joining the branch can send an email to afriforumvdb@gmail.com or an SMS to 072 908 1345.
