AfriForum’s Benoni branch neighbourhood watch on Tuesday evening, 7 February 2018, in cooperation with the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) assisted various community members after storms damaged a number of trees and homes.

This follows after a heavy rain showers hit parts of Benoni, during which various houses were damaged and a number of trees fell over roads. About 20 members of the AfriForum neighbourhood watch and the CPF worked until after midnight to remove fallen trees from Landau, Leyds and Van Rooyen streets. Affected areas include Rynfield, Cloverdene, Morehill and Chief Albert Luthuli Park.

“The community must know that we are there for them and that we must support each other in times of need and unforeseen circumstances,” says Buddy David, Spokesperson of Sector 1’s CPF.

“Cooperation between role players and the community leads to swift action and the establishment a of good and sustainable relationship,” concludes Archie Mouyis, Chairperson of AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch in Benoni.
