The AfriForum neighbourhood watches in Apies River, West-Moot and Pretoria West this past weekend participated in the civil rights organisation’s national mass patrol. The patrol was carried out successfully by approximately 188 neighbourhood watch members, as well as members of the South African Police Service (SAPS).
“The patrollers patrolled the areas between Friday night at 19:00 and Saturday morning at 4:00. No serious incidents of crime were reported,” says Lambert de Klerk, AfriForum’s District Coordinator in Gauteng.
De Klerk adds that the mass patrol was directed towards crime prevention and the visibility of the respective safety structures.
“We will continue to work on projects in cooperation with the police to prevent crime in our communities.”
